What diet and nutrition should one follow as a Yoga practitioner?

Diet and nutrition are an important part of everyone’s daily schedule. I am not a Dietician by profession but, the following writing has been all of my personal experience in my journey.
I am a cross fitter and a Yoga Instructor. So when I practice muscle training and strength training exercises protein is a very important part of my diet.

Alongside a good proportion of protein leafy vegetables and greens are equally important. Based on your Prakruti you can ask an Ayurvedic practitioner to recommend the best diet for your constitution. I found changing my diet really helped me with working with better energy levels and a more bright state of mind. I remember eating cereals for breakfast and feeling so bloated throughout the day. Instead, I substituted those for a protein smoothie and it really helped me get rid of flatulence and feeling bloated. Also, at times I like to stir fry some vegetables in coconut oil with some spices. That helps with my energy levels as well.

In Ayurvedic science’s they say that cleansing your body once a month can be really good for your overall wellbeing. We end up eating so many grains and other food throughout our lifetime that our intestine doesn’t get enough time to rest. So fasting can be really beneficial for one’s body. However, again it is important to take recommendations from your Ayurvedic Practioner/ physician before taking this step.
Also, making sure that you drink lots of water is very important. Staying hydrated is especially important in order to stay fit. Making sure you are well-nourished in regards to different vitamins and minerals is important as well. So have a well-balanced diet with a good exercise routine is important to stay healthy.
